The view from our Home

High on a hill in the East Neuk of Fife overlooking the Forth estuary and beyond. With views to the east toward Crail and west towards Edinburgh we look over the estuary to North Berwick and Bass Rock.

The East Neuk

Our home is in one of the best kept secrets of Scotland, the East Neuk of Fife. Much more than just St Andrews with glorious coastal walks and amazing places to eat with some of the finest restaurants in Scotland with views to match.

This is the nearby village of Pittenweem which the house overlooks from atop the hill in the distance

Below is the walk between Elie and Lower Largo and in the distance is the village of Earlsferry. If you’re brave you can take the “Chain Walk” shortcut!

Our local swimming pool which is situated on the edge of Pittenweem. There is nothing like a clean refreshing swim all year round, but bring a warm coat as it is not heated.

Take the Coastal Walk between St Monan’s and Pittenweem and if you are early enough you’ll have dolphins and seals for company

The picturesque coastal village of Elie, beautiful beaches and great golf course

Places to Eat

We are very fortunate to have a number of great places to eat within the East Neuk of Fife all of which serve a very high standard of cuisine.

It is difficult to determine a favourite for they are all good in their own special way, here are some suggestions.

The East Pier Smokehouse at St Monans is open from Spring to Autumn and serves up the most delicious of Fish dishes, great portions and on a less than windy day there are places to sit out, eat and enjoy the beautiful coastline.

Craig Millar @ 16 West End is also in St Monans and serves equally tasty but a much finer cuisine.

The Cellar is situated along the coast at Anstruther, but you have to book reasonably well in advance and is a great fine dining experience.

The Peat Inn, is at Peat Inn and as well as proving some lovely accommodation, they are also a well established fine dining experience.

The Seafood Ristorante is down by the Old Course at St Andrews overlooking the fantastic beach. The food, as the title suggests is seafood and they serve some of the best dishes in the East Coast. It is more of a fine dining experience than a fish and chip restaurant.

The Ship Inn at Elie is also worth both a mention and visit. Not so much fine dining but a great place to get good local food and there is something on the menu that will suit everyones tastes.
